The purpose of the Education track is to focus on how to improve the reach of education to students around the world, from students old to young. Especially as distance learning and online education become more popular, we look forward to seeing submissions that aim to innovate our current educational systems, such as how we approach equity in education, how we can make remote learning more interactive, and how we can address the disparity in access to educational resources. Sustainability looks to protect our natural environment, human and ecological health while driving innovation. Projects in this tract seek to focus on how to make our lives more sustainable. MenloHacks is a weekend-long event where hundreds of students from around the world work together to create or "hack" innovative new software and/or hardware projects. What are tracks? There are three tracks, or impact areas, that we’ve developed to specifically hack in: health, education, and sustainability. The top project in each track will be awarded a prize. How much coding experience do I need? None at all. We’ll be hosting beginner workshops where you start learning programming and everything you want to build. There will also be beginner prizes available. Are you required to do a track project? No! However, we strongly encourage those who are interested in one of the three tracks to work on them. Who can attend? Anyone currently in high school is eligible to apply. Do you have to submit a project if I attend? You can attend all our events without submitting a project, but you must submit one to receive swag or a prize! How much does the event cost? A sum total of $0.00. Our goal is to let you hack worry free. What should I bring? All you need is your computer and Discord (where the virtual hackathon will be taking place) installed. It’s as simple as that. How do teams work? Your team can have up to 4 people. You can select teammates when you register, or you can form them during the actual event! How do I find a team? We’ll have team formation events geared towards helping you find people to work with. Obviously, if you have friends going to the event, you are welcome to just team up with them; however, it is often more fun to code with new people. Is there a code of conduct? Yes, there is. Nothing too out of the ordinary though. Generally, be nice to others. If you want the full guide, we are using the MLH code of conduct which can be found here. Where can I ask for more questions?
